Beekeeping Courses

John is a certified Master Beekeeper having passed the pre-requisite eleven British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA) exams. He is a member of both Norwich BeeKeepers’ Association and Waveney BeeKeepers’ Group. John has kept bees for over 40 years and has run beekeeping courses at Applebee for 25 years.

Both John and Ruth are qualified science teachers.

Popular Practical Classes

These are ‘hands on’ classes. Working in pairs, you will manage your own hive for six weeks and watch its development through the active season. You have the opportunity to assemble hives and frames from equipment supplied. Each evening we have a discussion on what we have seen. Honey is extracted and prepared for resale. Notes are given on major beekeeping topics.

Talks on ‘The Secrets of Bees and Honey’ given to WIs, Horticultural Clubs, etc..

He has written articles for Beecraft, the official journal of the BBKA and is a member of both Norwich BeeKeepers’ Association and Waveney BeeKeepers’ Group.John has kept bees for over 40 years and has run beekeeping courses at Applebee for 10 years.
